COVID-19 lockdown: EJAC chairman condemns ‘beating’ of FCS &CA employees by forces in Srinagar

Srinagar: Chairman Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) and President CAPD Employees Association Aijaz Ahmed Khan on Thursday strongly condemned the “use of excessive force” on employees who, he said, are working round the clock at this crucial time” amid rapidly spread of COVID-19 infection in Jammu and Kashmir and more so in Srinagar and some north Kashmir parts.
Talking to Kashmir Horizon Khan while expressing his concern over the manhandling of two officials of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Srinagar said “the unprecedented brute use of force by men in uniform against employees working on ground to deliver ration at the door steps of people amid fast spread of COVID-19 infections at this crucial time is highly condemnable”. He demanded an immediate inquiry into the incident and stringent action against the cops responsible for the unwanted use of forces against FCS&CA officials in the line of duty. He said government forces are beating the employees “which is a serious issue and condemnable”. He strongly the beating of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department employees while on their way to their offices at Safakadal and Jehangir Chowk “. Khan has appealed higher authorities to ensure smooth movement of employees amid government imposed lockdown, saying they are putting their lives on risk for the general public.
It may be mentioned here that Inspector General Of Police , Kashmir Range, Vijay Kumar has urged the deputy commissioners to issue curfew passes to the officials connected with the delivery of essential services amid strict lockdown in Kashmir like several other parts of the country. Presently the government has banned movement of the people excepting officials of the health department and several other departments carrying out essential services and media persons.
