Babus and their tweets on coronavirus control

Trying to be over smart even over the implementation of preventive measures on a deadly disease like coronavirous spreading fast in the nook and corner of the country, the bureaucrats occupying the positions of deputy commissioners and directors of several key departments keep themselves busy for the whole day more with the micro blogging social networking site twitter and less with their work just for the purpose of wining accolades from their bureaucratic bosses. While the sealing of any ATM is the job of a ward officer, the Commissioner SMC does the job in presence of ward officer and then tweets few lines along with the picture of sealed ATM on twitter just for the purposes of media attraction. Though the lodging of the COVID-19 suspects at hotels is the job of Director Hospitality and Protocol and Deputy Director Estates but Deputy Commissioners, district SPs and Tehsildars are doing the job only for the purposes of media attraction on social networking site twitter. Though supervision of the control measures of the deadly coronavirus disease is the job of Director Health Services Kashmir but he does not find time to tweet on the implementation of control measures. Surprisingly some Chief Medical Officers directly holding the responsibility of overseeing the patient care in hospitals in their respective districts find enough time to use twitter for hours together but their supervising authority Director Health Services Kashmir has no time to use the twitter for sharing the information about the health facilities for COVID-19 suspects. Though the distribution of ration is the domain of the Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department (Kashmir) but Deputy Commissioner Srinagar having the administrative jurisdiction just over Srinagar city tweets about the work implemented by Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) having the administrative jurisdiction all over Kashmir only for the purposes of media attraction on twitter.
Bureaucrats using twitter for every routine action just for the purposes of media attraction in crisis like situations is almost dereliction of duty and as such demands appropriate administrative action. Work more and tweet less should be the priority of the bureaucrats holding key positions in the civil and police administration.
Babus occupying responsible possible positions have to use twitter for disseminating the vital formation to media which the government’s Information & Public Relations Department may not send to media persons in routine new bulletins. The conduct of responsible public functionaries matters a lot in combating a crisis like the one prevailing in Jammu & Kashmir and other parts of the country for last more than ten days. Bureaucrats using twitter for every routine action just for the purposes of media attraction in crisis like situations is almost dereliction of duty and as such demands appropriate administrative action. Work more and tweet less should be the priority of the bureaucrats holding key positions in the civil and police administration.
