While in Delhi, the central government commanded and controlled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought Justice (Retd) Ranjan Gogoi, the former Chief Justice of India from the majestic court room no: 1 of the Supreme Court of India to seat no. 104 in the sixth row of the Rajya Sabha to trigger unprecedented cries of “shame shame”, it brought itself into disrepute once more when it brought Baseer Ahmed Khan from S. No 22 of the IAS civil list virtually to S No 1 in Jammu & Kashmir and put him over and above Chief Secretary and 15 other IAS officers senior to him presently holding the positions of administrative secretaries of different departments . Usually the presidential nominees in Lok Saha and Rajaya Sabha are greeted with accolades for their contributions in their own fields of activities as they are nominated by the president only for the immense contributions in their own fields of activities but cries of “Shame Shame” by the Rajaya Sabha members shattered the celebration dreams of Justice (Retd) Gogoi in the highest law making body of the country the time when he was taking oath as Member Rajaya Sabha. Interestingly after Justice (Retd) Gogoi, the Modi government could not also see the rise of it’s another it’s awardee Baseer Ahmad Khan to the position of Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, becoming an occasion of celebration as Jammu & Kashmir High Court days before his new appointment directed an anti-corruption court of Baramulla to explain “inordinate delay” in framing charges against Khan as key accused in the infamous Gulmarg land scam.
Though post retirement rehabilitation of any key public functionary becomes the occasion of satisfaction and celebration but the post retirement rehabilitations of both Justice (Retd.) Gogoi and Baseer Ahmad Khan have become the occasions of dejection and humiliationfor them.
Surprisingly both Justice (Retd.) Gogoi, the retired Chief Justice Of India (CJI) turned Rajaya Sabha Member and Baseer Ahmed Khan the top babu turned Jammu & Kashmir Lt Governor’s advisor share a disqualification of facing trials and tribulations in their active service careers. Though Justice (Retd) Gogoi stands cleared of the charges he was facing from a woman employee of the Supreme Court of the country as Chief Justice Of India (CJI) but Baseer Ahmad Khan a former bureaucrat turned advisor to Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor is still facing judicial trial as key accused in the one of key land scams in Jammu & Kashmir-the Gulmarg land scam. As the reputation of any top executive goes to the place of his/her new place of assignment before his /her take over , the reputation of Justice (Retd,) Gogoi and Baseer Ahmad Khan have already reached Rajaya Sabha in Delhi and top corridors of power in Jammu & Kashmir Government respectively. Though post retirement rehabilitation of any key public functionary becomes the occasion of satisfaction and celebration but the post retirement rehabilitations of both Justice (Retd.) Gogoi and Baseer Ahmad Khan have become the occasions of dejection and humiliation for them.
