Jammu: On instructions of Chief Justice, J&K High Court, Justice Gita Mittal, the J&K State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) is making synergetic efforts with the Government of J&K to mitigate the current global health emergency which has arisen due to outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to Executive Chairman J&K SLSA, Justice Rajesh Bindal, the State Legal Services Authority has suspended the activity calendar and has engaged with the administration to fight the deadly disease by disseminating the advisories issued by the Government and World Health Organization.
The Para Legal Volunteers working throughout the Jammu and Kashmir were sensitized by the concerned DLSA Secretaries about the disease and the preventions required to be taken to fight the same.
In order to decongest the court premises, the District Legal Service Authorities got the banners displayed on the entrance of all the courts to inform the public to decrease the footfall in the Court premises. To ensure hygiene and sanitization, sanitizers have been made available at the entrance points of the courts.
The litigants are being informed through social and print media to refrain from visiting the court and seek information about their cases from their advocates telephonically. Helplines have also been created to guide the litigants as well as general public about their cases.
After Government issued the J&K Epidemic Disease (COVID-19) Act 2020, the staff of Legal Services Institutions across the J&K apprised the citizens about the promulgation of the Act and also advised them to abide by the provisions of the Act so that the deadly disease is stopped from spreading further.
