COVID-19: Play proactive role in awareness campaign: DC G’bal to media

Ganderbal: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal Friday urged the media persons working in district Ganderbal to play proactive role in awareness campaign launched by district administration in order to sensitize public to contain the spread of coronavirus infection.
DC made these remarks while kick starting a 3-day door to door awareness campaign from Mini Secretariat Ganderbal in which 6 ambulances fitted with loud speakers and banners will generate awareness regarding Do’s and Don’ts to curb spread of COVID-19 in all blocks of the district.
The awareness campaign is being organized by district administration in collaboration with Hope Disability Centre, Wayil, Ganderbal.
SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal, ADC Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, President Municipal Committee, Ganderbal, CMO Ganderbal, ARTO Ganderbal, EO Municipality, DIO Ganderbal besides representatives of Hope Disability Centre were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, while briefing the media persons, the DC said that district administration has taken slew of measure to restrict spread of Corona Virus which include establishment of 24×7 district control room at DC office Ganderbal, formations of the district and block level surveillance teams for close monitoring, establishment of isolation and quarantine facilities at District Hospital and various other places of district, imposition of section 144 of CrPC, banning of public transport, banning the unnecessary social, politically and cultural gatherings, closure of schools and educational institutions, fumigation and sanitization of important public places including District Hospital and Jamia Masjid.
He further informed that no COVID-19 case has been confirmed in the district, so far.
The DC appealed people to follow the advisories issued by Department of Health and Medical Education to curb the spreading of COVID-19.
