Advisor Bhatnagar, DGP review security, arrangements for annual Amar Nath  Yatra in Srinagar

Srinagar:  R. R Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt. Governor, Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh Wednesday chaired a meeting of officers to review the security scenario of Kashmir and also discussed arrangements for the upcoming annual amarnath  yatra .

The meeting was held at Police Control Room Kashmir and was attended by IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar, IGP BSF,Sh Rajesh Mishra DIG CKR,  Mohammad Suleman Choudhary, district SSsP of  Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Bandipora, and through video conference by DIG, South Kashmir, Sh Atul Goel, SsP Kulgam, Anantnag, Pulwama,and Awantipora.

Advisor Bhatnagar complimented the police and SF for an outstanding performance and advised  that we must continue with the efforts to maintain peace and create further conducive environment for development of the area.

Addressing the meeting DGP advised the officers that the plans should be worked out and fine tuned and put in action in such a way that required timelines as per Yatra schedule are met well in time and adequate arrangements are provided for annual amarnath yatra.  The DGP said whatever support in the shape of logistics and manpower is required will be placed at their disposal for smooth conduct of the yatra.

The officers were directed that based on the past experience they should review and update their plans. They were directed to cater to accommodation and other basic amenities for the troupes deployed on ground.

There are issues pertaining to the Shrine Board and administration at various levels including a variety of steps to be taken to arrange various facilities for the Yatra camps.

The officers were also impressed upon to prepare a check list for actions to be taken with timelines keeping in view the security requirements on ground.

The DGP urged that the officers must also start briefing and training of police and CAPF regarding their role and to coordinate joint training of troops so that there is no confusion. The DGP emphasized that border grid should stay fully alert to avert early attempts of infiltration this year as as being reported.

The DGP said although we Security situation have shown a lot of improvement we must work for consolidating peace and stability.

Stressing that public cooperation has helped in maintaining law and order, he directed the officers to ensure that law-abiding people are not put to any inconvenience.  The DGP reiterated that the support of

community was essential and more and more public cooperation should be ensured by prioritizing community-based programs.

The range DIGs and district SSPs briefed  about the security plans being made for the safety and security of intending amaranth yatris. The officers also apprised the Advisor and the DGP about the security scenario in their respective areas.
