Jammu: The Election Commission on Monday appointed Hirdesh Kumar as the new Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir. The IAS officer replaced Shailendra Kumar.
According to a notification issued by the commission, Hirdesh Kumar a 1999-batch IAS officer of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre was appointed for the posts.
The notification asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to ensure that the new CEO takes charge “immediately”.
Sources disclosed that the outgoing CEO is likely to be given responsibility of important department.
About the new Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, the sources said that a non-local IAS officer is likely to be posted as new Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.
