DDC reviews progress under PMAGY, discusses water conservation plan

Kathua: District Development Commissioner, O P Bhagat Saturday chaired a meeting of District PMAGY Convergence Committee to review its implementation.
It was apprised in the meeting, that PMAGY is aimed at integrated development of selected villages with more than 50 per cent of its population belonging to the scheduled castes for providing adequate infrastructure and improvement in Socio-Economic Indicators broadly covering drinking water and sanitation, Health and Nutrition, Rural Roads and Housing, Electricity and clean fuel and digitization.
It was informed in the meeting that 37 villages of District Kathua have been selected under PMAGY and village PMAGY convergence committees have been formulated in all these selected villages.
DDC directed the officers of RDD, PHE, Education, PDD, Social Welfare, Health and others to conduct a joint survey of villages for finding out the infrastructural gaps and socio economic needs of the village. The infrastructural and socio economic needs shall be prioritized for formulation of Village Development Plan.
The said plan shall be sanctioned by District Level Convergence Committee and uploaded on the Designated Portal. The exercise shall be completed on expeditious basis.
DDC said the village PMAGY convergence committee, headed by the concerned Sarpanch will review the progress of scheme on weekly basis and coordinate with the District PMAGY convergence committee in smooth implementation of the scheme.
Later, the DDC also chaired a meeting to discuss the preparation of Water Conservation Plan for the District by involving all line departments like Forest, RDD, Agriculture, Soil Conservation, PHE, I&FC.
He stressed on spreading awareness on various water conservation technologies among the masses through mass media in rural and urban areas.
He exhorted upon the Engineers of Urban Local Body, PHE, PWD and Irrigation Department to prepare working models of Rainwater Harvesting, Thermal insulation of water tanks, gravel and sand technology for reuse and recycle of grey water waste.
The harvested and recycled water can be used for agriculture and non potable uses. It was stressed for preparation of Greywater Management Plan in rural and Kandi areas and mandatory rain water harvesting clause in issuing building permissions by the ULBs.
SE Hydraulic Circle Kathua, Suresh Sabharwal, ACD, Narayan Dutt, CPO, Uttam Singh, CEO, T R Mangotra, DSWO, Abdul Raheem, AD FCS&CA, Zakir Naik, CMO, Dr. Ashok Chaudhary, DFOs, Engineers besides other District Officers were also present in the meeting.
