Udhampur: One person was killed while eight others sustained grievous injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road near Kassal Morh along Patnitop-Kud road in Udhampur district of Jammu region on Friday.
Officials said a vehicle (Tempo Traveller) bearing registration number JK14B-2133 over turned and felt into a gorge near Kassal Morh.
Soon after the mishap, police with the help of locals launched a rescue operation during which nine injured persons were rescued and were shifted to hospital for treatment.
However, one among the injured who was critically injured succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was identified as Rajul Pran Lal Goradia from Ghatkopar East Delhi.
Officials further identified the injured persons as Nilesh Balram Tiwari, son of Baleram Tiwari of Maharashtra, Bhavesh Diraj Lal Lotiya, son of Diraj Lal Lotiya of Thane Maharashtra, Jayash Nandlal, son of Nandlal of West Mumbai, Rohit Ashok Bhai, son of Ashok Bhai of Bhavan Nagar Gujarat, Parakash Metha, son of Rajnikanth Mehta of Circle Mumbai, Vasant Damji Thakker, son of Damji Thakker of Mumbai Mahashtra, Kaplesh Chhota Lal, son of Chhota Lal Palan of West Mumbai Maharashtra and Hemang Prakash, son of Prakash Hiralal Mehta of East Mumbai.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur, Rajiv Panday also confirmed the incident and said that one person has succumbed to his injuries while eight others are undergoing treatment at District Hospital Udhampur
