Srinagar/March,13 :Chairman Peoples Democratic Front ( PDF) Hakeem Yaseen on Friday welcomed release of Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah ,who was under custody for over six months under the Public Safety Act (PSA)
In a statement issued today, Hakeem Yaseen while welcoming release of Farooq Abdullah has said that release of political detenues would go a long way to start stalled political activities in the strife torn state. He said Government should have released Farooq Abdullah earlier but it was better late than never. He has urged the government to release all other detained political leaders including former Chief Minister Omar Abdullar and Mehbooba Mufi immediately so that political process gets underway in a congenial democratic atmosphere.
PDF Chairman observed that difference of ideas and dissent was the essence of democracy adding that it does not augur good to go the voice of people and their elected leaders for petty political motives . He said Centre should without further delay full it’s assurances regarding gauranteees to employment , domicile and land rights to them which he said was imperative to restore confidential and trust of the people of the state.
