Srinagar: A woman who had recently returned from Saudi Arabia, suspected of Coronavirus infection has been kept in an isolation ward at Government Medical College Hospital in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Medical Superintendent GMC, Anantnag, Dr Majid Mehraj told KNT that the 75 year old woman who hails from Panzath Ananatnag village arrived in the hospital. “She was suffering from flu and fever and keeping her travel history into account it was found desirable to take her samples and send them to Laboratory for testing and we did the same,” he said.
He added that the elderly woman had recently returned from Saudi Arabia where she had gone for a pilgrimage.
A patient from district Poonch has also been quarantined after he showed symptoms of Coronavirus.
Meanwhile, SKIMS Soura on Friday cancelled leaves of its employees in order to ensure uninterrupted medical services to public.”
“In view of the spread of COVID-19, which has been declared as a worldwide pandemic, all the leaves (except leaves on extra-ordinary grounds) of employees of SKIMS and SKIMS Medical College are hereby cancelled with immediate effect,” reads an order, a copy of which lies with KNT, issued by Prof. A G Ahangar, Director SKIMS .
“The staff already on sanctioned leave is directed to resume duties immediately in order to provide uninterrupted medical services to public”.
No fresh case of earned/casual leave shall be entertained, the order further said. (KNT)
