Director Handloom reviews functioning of Clusters

Jammu: Director Handloom Development Department, Babila Rakwal Tuesday convened a meeting to review the functioning of Block level clusters which are under implementation of National Handloom development Programme (NHDP), Government of India.
The meeting was attended by, Joint Director, Handloom Development Department, Jammu Pardeep singh Manhas and, Joint Director, Handloom Development Department, Kashmir Dr Nargis Suriya besides Secretaries of implementing agency of Block level clusters and representatives of Weaver Service Centre, Srinagar also participated in the meeting.
Threadbare discussion was held regarding the functioning and activities of Block level clusters which included sanction of corpus funds for the purchase of raw materials, administrative expenses, frequent buyer- seller meets, Handloom Expo’s/Events.
The Director assured the participants that the shortcomings and the problems being faced by the Block level clusters in the present scenario would be taken up with the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, GOI so as to ensure that all the 13 Block level Clusters are completed under NHDP at the earliest. These Block Level clusters are Loi Malhar (Kathua),Tangpora Srinagar North, Anchar, Ellahi Bagh (Srinagar), Batroo Ukhral (Ramban), Mongri (UDhampur), Mahanpur(Kathua),Alastang(Ganderbal),Hawal(Srinagar),Pahroo(Budgam),Singpora(Baramulla) and Kanihama(Budgam).
