Ang : Two labourers were on Monday killed while as two were injured in a mysterious blast at an army ammunition depot camp in Khundroo area of Achabal in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Official sources said there was a blast at army’s 21 Field Ammunition Depot (FAD) at Khundroo at about 12.45 P.M in which two ATA (Ammunition Technician Area) Labourers died on spot and two were injured. The deceased have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, resident of Pahloo and Gulzar Ahmad Khan, resident of Uttersoo Maidphall areas of the district.
The two injured labourers identified as Fida Hussain and Shabir Ahmad have been rushed to a hospital, the official added.
A senior police official while confirming the incident said during some cleaning work at Ammunition Lab in Khundroo a labour touching a live shell which exploded resulting in the death of two labourers and injuries to two others.
Worthy to mention here that Khundru is one of the biggest ordinance depots in Kashmir valley and is located inside a heavily guarded Army camp
