SMC Commissioner tours civil lines, takes stock of functioning of drainage system

Srinagar: Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Gazanfar Ali Monday visits civil lines area including Lal Chowk, Polo view, Maulana Azad Road, Regal Chowk and took stock of drainage system and other works in the area.
He was accompanied by Corporator, Wajahat Hussain, Joint Commissioner Works, Joint Commissioner Planning, S.E Drainage and other senior Municipal Officers.
While taking stock of functioning of drainage system in the area, he directed the concerned to ensure cleaning and desilting of drains for smooth flow of drainage system.
Taking stock of ongoing work on the dewatering pump station at Lal Chowk, Commissioner SMC asked the Mechanical Division Drainage to expedite the work and complete the project within given timeframe.
Interacting with the hoteliers and restaurant owners of the area, Gazanfar Ali asked them to treat greasy effluents of their units prior to draining it in main drains. He also took stock of sanitation in the area.
