Srinagar: Fresh traffic was allowed on Tuesday from Srinagar to Jammu after all vehicles, stranded there since Saturday, were cleared on the 270-km-long national highway.
Meanwhile, massive snow clearance operation by Beacon project was going on to clear the highway which connects the Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh with Kashmir. The 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh highway had remained closed for the past three months due to heavy snow and poor road conditions.
The 86-km-long historic Mughal road and Anantnag-Kishtwar road which has also remained closed for the past two months due to heavy snowfall.
“One-way traffic was allowed from Srinagar to Jammu on Monday on the Kashmir highway till further orders to avoid traffic jam and accidents,” a traffic police official told UNI.
He said Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) would be allowed to crossed Zig, Qazigund from 0600 hrs to 1100 hrs on Tuesday.
