New Delhi/March,10: Twenty two Congress MLAs of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday resigned from the assembly to bring Kamal Nath-led Congress government into minority and clear the road for the return of BJP to power in the state.
Reports said 22 Congress MLAs, most of them believed to be loyal to expelled party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, have sent their resignation letters via email to Raj Bhavan, Bisahulal Singh was the last MLA to submit his resignation letter as an MLA to the Assembly speaker.

“We have received resignations of 19 MLAs through emails with attachments,” a Raj Bhawan official said.

Sources in Congress produced a copy of Bisahulal Singh’s resignation letter which he submitted to the speaker.

Former chief minister and senior BJP leader later announced that Singh (65) has joined the BJP.

Following is the list of Madhya Pradesh Congress MLAs including ministers belonging to the Jyotiraditya Scindia camp who have resigned so far.

Ministers: Tulsi Silawat, Govind Singh Rajput, Dr Prabhuram Choudhry, Imarti Devi, Pradyumna Singh Tomar and Mahendra Singh Sisodia.

Other MLAs who have resigned: Hardeep Singh Dang, Rajyavardhan Singh, Brajendra Singh Yadav, Jaspal Jajji, Suresh Dhakad, Jaswant Jatav, Santram Sironia, Munnalal Goyal, Ranveer Singh Jatav, OPS Bhadoria, Kamlesh Jatav, Giriraj Dandotiya, Raghuraj Kansana, Aidalsingh Kansana, Biasahulal Singh.

State Congress spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi, a close confidant of Scindia, resigned from the party’s primary membership soon after Scindia announced that he was quitting the party.

Congress MLA from Hatpiplya in Madhya Pradesh, Manoj Choudhary, resigns, taking the number of those who have quit to 22.

A short while ago, Scindia resigned from the Congress in Delhi saying it was now time for him to move on. He was promptly expelled from the Congress by party president Sonia Gandhi.

Governor Lalji Tandon, who is in Lucknow for celebrating Holi, is likely to rush back to Bhopal by cutting short his visit, sources said.

However, it could not be confirmed whether the Governor will be returning by Tuesday evening, when the Congress and the BJP will be holding their respective legislature party meetings.

According to sources in the Scindia camp, more MLAs, including some ministers, might also resign from the Assembly.
