Delhi’s political witch hunt in Kashmir

Though some mainstream leaders tend to give political legitimacy to the abrogation of article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir state into two union territories by the raising the demands for statehood to Jammu & Kashmir and protection of job and land rights on the pattern of some north eastern states like Asam and Mizoram but the central government commanded and controlled by BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not drop any indication about any new political arrangement with any mainstream political leader in Jammu & Kashmir. While the fact remains that attempts to generate a broader public opinion about the formation of a new political arrangement have not evoked a healthy response within and outside Jammu and Kashmir from any responsible quarter, the new issues concerning the political, constitutional, and administrative rights of the people have cropped up after the imposition of over three dozen new central laws in Jammu & Kashmir. While the recently pronounced delimitation initiative has evoked only criticism and objections from people of different shades and opinions in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu region, the central government is looking away from the idea of engagement with any mainstream political leader over the political future of Jammu & Kashmir. Few mainstream leaders tending to work for a new political arrangement in the presence of a hostile political atmosphere are facing public criticism as they fail to offer explanations over their new political agenda both in Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu region. Since the tendency to endorse the abrogation of article 370 and bifurcation of erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state into two union territories goes against the basic spirit of public sentiment in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu region, the working of any new political formation for the purposes of an unworkable political agenda against the whims and wishes of the people of Jammu & Kashmir would be a Himalayan challenge for the central government.
The central government focuses less on the political and constitutional empowerment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and more on corruption and public accountability only with the purposes of political witch hunt.
Since political empowerment is the key concern after the abrogation of article 370 and bifurcation of erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state into two union territories, this is time to address constitutional and political rights of the people and not issues like Corruption, public accountability, and administrative responsiveness. Unfortunately the central government focuses less on the political and constitutional empowerment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and more on corruption and public accountability only with the purposes of political witch hunt.
