Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday claimed to have achieved another breakthrough in the last year’s deadly suicide attack at Lethopora in Pulwama, by arresting father-daughter duo for providing food, shelter and other logistics to Jaish militants who planned the fidayeen attack.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the NIA said that in the continuing investigation of the Pulwama attack case in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed in a fidayeen attack on February 14 last year, NIA arrested two more accused namely—Tariq Ahmed Shah, aged 50 years, son of Muhammad Maqbool Shah and his daughter Insha Jan, 23, of Hakripora, Pulwama district. “Tariq Ahmed Shah works as a Tipper driver in the South Kashmir. During initial interrogation, accused Tariq Ahmed Shah has disclosed that his house at Hakripora, Pulwama was used by Adil Ahmed Dar(Fidayeen), Muhammad Umar Farooq, a Pakistani militant and IED maker, Kamran another Pakistani militant (both were later killed in encounters with security forces), Sameer Ahmed Dar, a Jaish militant from Pulwama and Muhammad Ismail alias Ibrahim alias Adnan, a Pakistani militant,” the statement said.
It said that Tariq Ahmed Shah facilitated all the militants at his house for sheltering and for planning of the heinous attack on the CRPF convoy. “His house was also used by the above mentioned militants for preparing and recording of video of Fidayeen Adil Ahmed Dar, which was released by Jaish-e-Mohammad soon after the Pulwama attack,” the statement said.
It said that Insha Jan, 23, is the daughter of Tariq Ahmed Shah, facilitated the militants at their home and provided food and other logistics during their stay on more than 15 occasions for two to four days each time, in their house during the year 2018-2019.
“Initial interrogation has revealed that Insha Jan was in constant touch with Muhammad Umar Farooq, Pakistani IED maker and was in communication with him over telephone and other social media applications,” the statement said
