Srinagar: Police on Sunday arrested an associate of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants and recovered incriminating materials, including ammunition, from him in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal.
A police spokesperson on Sunday said that following specific information, a police team arrested one Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Akhal Kangan. “As per police records, Bhat was involved in assisting the active militants of proscribed terror outfit LeT operating in the areas of Ganderbal,” he said.
As per the investigations, he said the accused was involved in providing logistic support and shelter to the active LeT militants, operating in the areas of Ganderbal. “He was also involved in transporting militants from one district to another district,” the spokesperson said.
He said Bhat was also involved in lobbing grenade on Police Station Kangan, adding incriminating materials including ammunition have been recovered from his possession.
“Case under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Gund. Incriminating materials recovered from his possession have been taken into records to probe his complicity in terror crimes,” he said.
Further investigation in to the matter is in progress, he added.
