He said following specific information, security forces intercepted a vehicle on Barzulla-Chanapora road in uptown Srinagar. “During checking, police recovered arms and ammunition, including a pistol and a grenade,” he said.

He said the accused were later identified as Vakeel Ahmad and Omar Ismail Dar, both resident of Bijbehara in Anantnag.

Earlier, it was reported that Vakeel was arrested from Bones and Joint Hospital in Srinagar on Saturday evening where he was getting treatment.

According to the police records, the both the accused are active militants affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT. “Both the militants have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody,” he said.

“Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition recovered from their possession has been seized and taken into records in order to probe their complicity in other terror crimes,” he said.

A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Saddar, he added.
