Baramulla: Asserting that there is a substantial dip in the number of militants and their activities in Kashmir, J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Friday said that police is on a mission to build peace in the valley.
“The number of militants and their activities has witnessed substantial dip. Security forces at different levels are working towards peace building efforts. It is our mission to further build upon the atmosphere which has been achieved,” Mr Singh told reporters during his visit to north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Friday.
He said thousands of people have lost their live due to militancy during the last 30 years in Kashmir. “Militants have carried out many crimes in the valley during this time,” he said.
However, he said the militant activities have witnessed a huge dip if compared with previous years. “If we compare the first two months of year 2019 and 2018 you can see the dip in militant activities. About 60 per cent dip has been witnessed in militant related crimes in the valley,” he said.
“We are working towards maintaining this trend and in coming days completely eradicate militancy in the valley so that people can live in peace and prosperity,” he added.
