Srinagar: The  Jammu and Kashmir administration has  announced the extension of the 2G mobile data service in the union territory till February 24.
Reports reaching to Kashmir News Said that the ban on high-speed 3G, 4G Internet services has been extended till February 24 in Jammu and Kashmir, while 2G Internet services will remain working with 1400+ whitelist websites, the Jammu and Kashmir government said in a notice released early Sunday.
On January 24, 2G mobile internet services on postpaid as well as prepaid phones were restored after remaining shut for more than five months. However, the service can only be used to access 301 websites approved by the Jammu and Kashmir administration, an official order had said.
The Centre cut off internet services in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on August 5 hours before the abrogation of article 370. Mobile 2G internet services  were restored in a limited way for both prepaid and postpaid connections after over five months on January 24. However, this access was provided to only 301 “whitelisted” websites.
administration on Saturday whitelisted 1,485 websites but extended the ban on high speed 3G and 4G internet services till February 24. In an order, the authorities said that “internet speed shall be restricted to 2G only”. (KNS).
