Srinagar: Notification for central services examination issued by the Union Public Service Commission without any mention of 5 years relaxation for candidates from Jammu & Kashmir has shocked Jammu & Kashmir civil service aspirants who still hope for an early decision from the Department of Personnel & Training (DOPT), Government of India, and a separate notification from the Union Public Service Commission.
Several civil service aspirants from Jammu and Srinagar called up Kashmir Horizon over phone to voice their unhappiness over no age relaxation for the Jammu & Kashmir youth in the Union Public Service (UPSC) notification issued for the central civil service examination conducted annually for selection to prestigious All India Services including IAS, IPS, IFS and allied services. One of the civil service aspirants Rahul Kanwal Singh from Jammu told Kashmir Horizon “ a group of aspirants has already represented the case for age relaxation before Jammu & Kashmir Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam and one of the advisors of Lt Governor who have assured a sympathetic review of the decision on the roll back of age relaxation for Jammu & Kashmir youth for the central civil service examination”. Meanwhile authoritative sources told Kashmir Horizon that Jammu & Kashmir Chief Government has already sent a proposal to the central government for restoration of the age relaxation of five years for Jammu & Kashmir aspirants in the central civil services and a decision is likely to announced in next 2-3 week by the department of personnel and training (DOPT), Government of India, presently controlled by Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) who interestingly is representing Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency in the parliament.
