Internet Gag : Review beyond restoration

Though the restoration of pre-paid mobile services and restoration of 2 G internet facility on android mobiles phones show the increasing improvement in the situation on ground in Kashmir as claimed by the government many a times during last more than three months but the government is still sticking to its fears of law & order troubles even after the use of social media sites through VPN apps did not trigger any trouble anywhere in Kashmir valley or Jammu province. Forget about the curbs on broadband and 4 G mobile internet accesses, no scope is left for the government to continue restrictions even on access to social media sites now. However government is dropping indications of keeping under suspension both the broadband internet services and as well 4 G mobile data facility without any rhyme or reason. The situation unfolding in Kashmir makes it difficult for the government to prolong the restoration of broadband and 4 G internet services as the fear of the government that use of social media sites may trigger law and order troubles have not also come true after the wild use of VPS apps across Jammu & Kashmir.
If not the government but the law will take its own course on basic fundamental rights of the people particularly internet access and free political space in Jammu & Kashmir and other parts of the country.
With people making right use of social media sites accessed by them through VPN apps there is very little scope for the government to delay further the six months long curbs on broadband and 4 G internet services. Forget about the fear of outbreak of protests by the use of social media sites after the experiences of right use by net surfers in Jammu & Kashmir. It is very difficult for the government to explain it to even to Supreme Court of the country that situation is not conducive enough to fully restore communication services across Jammu & Kashmir. The government won’t find any issue to defend it’s six month long indefensible position on the restoration of broadband and 4 G mobile internet services in Jammu & Kashmir when people don’t object to the temporary restrictions on access to social media sites. So better for the government to keep social media sites out of bounds to take care of it’s security concerns and not to keep the internet facilities blocked to people concerned about their careers and professional activities. Denying the internet access to people and delaying it beyond record time of six months is an overt and covert attempt of the government to move away from the directions and observations of the supreme court of the country which has declared internet “a fundamental right”. If not the government but the law will take its own course on basic fundamental rights of the people particularly internet access and free political space in Jammu & Kashmir and other parts of the country.
