Srinagar: The traffic police authorities have announced that Srinagar-Jammu highway wouldremain open for one way traffic from Srinagar to Jammu today and there would be no restrictions on Srinagar
bound passenger vehicles for their onward journey to Kashmir from the stranded places on the highway.
A senior traffic police official told Kashmir Horizon over phone “the Srinagar-Jammu highway would remain open for one way traffic from Srinagar to Jammu today and the movement of the Srinagar bound vehicles stranded on Kashmir highway since Tuesday morning won’t be stopped from traveling to their destinations in Kashmir ”. The highway was shut on Tuesday morning after fresh slides triggered by fresh snowing blocked the highway. As reported already the highway is prone to landslides triggered by the frequent snowing on Banihal-Ramban track where massive excavation works are in full swing. Frequent shutdowns due to frequent snowing this winter are shooting the crisis of fuel supply and shortage of essential commodities in landlocked Kashmir valley.
