Srinagar: While the power development department is grappling with the shortage of transformers triggered by the bursting of 150 transformers in last few days in valley the government has denied funs to the power development department required for buffer stocks of required power transformers in valley.
When asked to comment on the replacement of 150 power transformers damaged in last few days in valley the Chief Engineer Power Development Department Kashmir Er Aijaz Ahmad told Kashmir Horizon “ the department had projected the demand for additional funds required for the buffer stocks of power transformers before the government but sufficient funds are not available to meet the rising demand for the replacement of power transformer”. Clarifying that the department has available 50 power transformers for replacements in bigger districts like Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag and 30 transformers for smaller district like Kupwara, Bandipora and Shopian the Chief Engineer PDDP said “after heavy snowfall on three consecutive days early this week we have restored power supply from 90% feeders in north and central Kashmir districts but only 70% feeders have been made operations in four South Kashmir districts. In next days 100% power will be restored in whole Kashmir valley”.
