Srinagar : Kashmir highway is likely to remain shut for two more days as heavy snowing continued on Wednesday a day after improvement in weather situation was witnessed in valley. Air traffic too was on Wednesday hit badly at Srinagar Airport as all the flights scheduled for the day were cancelled. Meanwhile MeT office has predicted bad weather for three more days this week.
A senior traffic police official told Kashmir Horizon over phone “the Kashmir highway is still closed and is likely to remain shut for two more days due to continuing snow in valley”. Meanwhile air traffic too was badly hit on Wednesday due to heavy snowing in valley as a senior official of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) told Kashmir Horizon over phone “ bad weather hit the air traffic today and all flights scheduled for the day were cancelled”. A travel operation told Kashmir Horizon over phone “ we had to refund lakhs of rupees to the passengers who were scheduled to fly on Wednesday in different flights from Srinagar to other destinations and from other destinations to Srinagar”. In a related development the meteorological department told Kashmir Horizon over phone “ bad weather is likely to continue for three more days as snow is expected at isolated places in valley and rains in plains of Jammu region for three more days”.
