Shameless posturing of Kashmir’s faceless mainstream

Virtually rendered faceless by the bifurcation of the erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir’s state into two union territories and scrapping of special status under article 370 and article 35 A the Kashmir’s few mainstream leaders are shamelessly demanding restoration of statehood to one union territory of the divided state and protection of land and job rights. Shamelessly the Kashmir’s over a dozen mainstream leaders known for their defection to not just one but many parties over the period of years just for the purposes of ministerial berths are now tending to deflect the attention of the people from promises of the unity and integrity of the erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state and protection of article 370 and article 35 A to the demand for statehood to Jammu & Kashmir union territory and protection of land and job rights. The political defectors of yesteryears coming together to demand statehood and land and job rights for the people of Jammu & Kashmir union territory instead of demanding reunification of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladhak union territories with statehood and restoration of special status under article 370 and article 35 A is virtually their attempt to subvert the struggle of the political parties and non political groups seeking restoration of the erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state and the special status under article 370 and 35 A. The political defectors showing their desperate tendencies to accept the central government’s August 5 decisions on the bifurcation of the erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state into two union territories and withdrawal of special status under article 370 and article 35 A owe too many explanations to the people of Jammu & Kashmir for their hasty actions without trying to evolve a broader consensus with political and non political groups within and outside Jammu & Kashmir union territory challenging the central government’s August 5,2019 decisions in the apex court of the country .  Those talking about filling the political vacuum can’t look away from the fact that detained leaders too have the capacity and will to undertake political activity but their detention is prolonged obviously to keep them away from mainstream politics and bring in a combination of old faces to run a new set up under new rules against the whims and wishes of the people in a hostile political atmosphere in the newly carved Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory. Setting a new agenda and divorcing the grand old promises on statehood and special status is an attempt to carry forward the politics of deceit and ill intentions which has ruined a state which had a separate flag, a constitution of its own and a special status under the constitution of India.
Kashmir highway to remain shut till Wednesday evening
