Srinagar: Congress party on Tuesday ridiculed that visit of European Union (EU) lawmaker’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir and said it is akin to “Complaining to own people and hugs to strangers”.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Congress State President Ghulam Ahmad Mir ridiculed the EU lawmakers visit to Jammu and Kashmir and said it is like “Complaining to own people and hugs to strangers” (Apnoo Se Gila; Aur Gairoon Se Galay Lagna). He said Congress party has not received any formal invitation from the government to meet EU lawmaker’s delegation.

Mir said, “It is not less than a knout that Indian Parliamentarians had not been allowed to visit Jammu and Kashmir but delegation comprising of EU lawmakers are wholeheartedly been invited into Jammu and Kashmir.

Mir hit out at Modi led BJP government and said “Modi led BJP government has itself indulged in internationalizing Kashmir issue while inviting outside missions here”. He added, “The delegation is managed team and such people happens in every region of the world. In every region there are A and B teams among one endorses each and every step of state”.

Congress leader added, Some Kashmiri leaders did also lunch with the delegation in New Delhi. What they did there, they should have come in clear terms before people because people have every right to ask them what they achieved?

When asked about party’s senior leader and former MLA Bandipora who met the delegation in New Delhi, Mir said, “Congress has nothing to do with what Usman Majeed’s meeting with EU lawmaker’s delegation. We have criticized this meaningless visit of EU delegation at national level. It was purely self-styled decision of Usman Majeed”.

He further said that things would be clear in day or two. “Everybody knows EU Parliamentarian had categorically disowned the visit. Let’s wait, the situation is murky and things will be clear in days to come”. (KNS)
