National Conference President detained under PSA at his highly fortified Gupkar residence shamelessly signaling victory sign during his meeting with a delegation of his party from Jammu was by all standards of understandabilities an irresponsible response to the withdrawal of special status to Jammu and Kashmir two months back. Farooq Abdullah could have signaled a victory sign with the senior members of the party delegation which called on him at his Gupkar residence if the central government would have at least lifted the security clampdown, restored the communication services and deferred the implementation of decisions on bifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir state, abrogation of article 370 and scrapping of article 35 A till the final outcome of the writ petitions filed against the central government over its decision on special status of Jammu & Kashmir and bifurcation of the state. Unfortunately Farooq Abdullah the leader of the oldest and biggest regional political party of the state having the distinction of being the three time former Chief Minister, one time former union minister and the incumbent member parliament signaled a victory sign with a visiting delegation of his party as if he had been freed along with his son Omar Abdullah and hundreds of other mainstream political detainees and allowed to carry out political activities ahead of the implementation of decisions on bifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir state, abrogation of article 370 and scrapping of article 35 A .
Farooq Abdullah and his followers signaling victory signs just for getting a government nod to a request of a party delegation of Jammu for a meeting with detained party leaders is by all standards of understandabilities a condemnable political gesture as Abdullah and his followers should have instead expressed regrets over the political blunders of National Conference founder late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on the restoration of autonomy and struggle for plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir under the Jammu & Kashmir plebiscite front for 21 long years. Before signaling victory signs just for a government nod to a request of a party delegation of Jammu for a meeting with detained party leaders in Srinagar both Abdullah and his followers should have pondered over a recent remark of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in which he said “ Why Congress is crying over the detention of Kashmiri mainstream leaders just for two months when it owes explanation for detaining legendary Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah for 11 long years”. Very shocking it is that Sheikh Abdullah way back in the year 1975 celebrated his return to power without restoration of autonomy for which he fought for 21 long years and now Farooq Abdullah along with his followers is signaling victory sign just seeing Jammu Kashmir dividing into two union territories and loosing the special status granted to it by a single constitutional order from the President of India.
