Srinagar/August,10: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer Shailendra Kumar here on Sunday called on Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan.
The J&K CEO apprised Governor about the ongoing summary revision of the electoral rolls and activities of the State Election Commission for the conduct of elections to the Block Development Councils. Referring to the Prime Minister’s address to the nation on 8th August, 2019, in which he stressed upon early conduct of BDC elections, Governor urged Kumar to expedite the process of electing representatives to the BDCs. He emphasised the vital importance of strengthening of grass root level democratic institutions and ensuring people’s participation in planning and executing development of their respective areas.
