Sources said a woman identified Rehme Begun wife of Abdul Ahad, a resident of Dassi Bagtore and a health department employee identified as Manzoor Ahmad, son of Bashir Ahmad, resident of Naidkhai, Sumbal, were injured.
The injured were rushed to local hospital where Rehme was referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment, they said adding however, the injured succumbed on Wednesday morning
Sources said since the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan in 2003, Pakistani troops have been shelling forward position in Kupwara, Baramull and Gurez, targeting civilian and forward posts at LoC.
However, they said Pak troops are resorting to firing and shelling at LoC to provide a cover to militants to sneak into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), where a large number of trained militants are camping in launch pads to sneak into this side before the infiltration routes are closed due to snowfall.
