Sheetal Nanda reviews developmental scenario in Kathua

Kathua :  Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, Monday chaired a meeting to take overall review of developmental scenario of Kathua district as the In-charge Secretary for monitoring the development related activities in the district.

At the outset, DDC, Dr. Raghav Langer presented the district profile besides overall status of developmental projects, implementation of state and centrally sponsored schemes, scenario of Health, Education, PDD, PHE, status of languishing projects and other development projects taken by various departments.

During the meeting, Sheetal Nanda exhorted on different departments to execute works in convergence with MGNREGA besides Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) was asked to prepare a credible plan for doubling farmers income by motivating them to practice allied agri activities like Poultry, Bee Keeping, Horticulture and Fish Farming.

While discussing Agriculture Sector, Sheetal Nanda inquired about Organic Farming Projects, Intensive Vegetable Cluster Areas, Intensive Species Development Project, Trikuta Mushroom Project, Soil Health Cards and distribution of Kissan Credit Card(KCC) in the district.

She suggested for conducting area wise  soil analysis, and educating  the farmers  to grow  suitable crops and the nutrients to be added in the soil.

For effective implementation of schemes related to welfare of farmers, Sheetal Nanda stressed on setting targets and reviewing the progress after regular intervals so that achievement under different schemes can be quantified. She further asked to involve various Self Help groups in food processing activities as they will also help in generating extra income for farmers.

While discussing Animal Husbandry Sector, Sheetal Nanda directed the DAHO to increase Dairy Farming and promote Poultry among farmers besides looking after the possibility of Broiler Hatchery in Kathua to encourage poultry farming.

Sheetal Nanda vouched for foolproof district disaster management and preparedness plan for Kathua. In this regard, she instructed to conduct regular training programmes continuous monitoring of flood prone areas.

Achievements under Social Security Schemes were also highlighted during the meeting. She stressed for the adoption of a camp approach rather than office approach for better results and directed for wide publicity of these schemes for maximum registration under target populace.

Different languishing schemes under various sectors in the district were discussed threadbare and it was directed that all these schemes must be executed on time with regular monitoring mechanism.

Removing encroachment from Forest land, promoting Eco Tourism and giving Forest clearance for development projects were few issues discussed while reviewing Forest sector.

While giving out details, Education department revealed the retention rate of children in Primary, Upper Primary, Secondary and Hr. Sec. level among boys and girls. Sheetal Nanda directed the CEO to ensure functional toilets in every Govt. school and also enquired about the enrollment in Govt. schools of the district.

She further directed the ADCs and SDMs to monitor enrollment in Govt. schools in their area and whether students are getting school unifor

In PHE sector, District plan for 100% piped water coverage was discussed in detail and Sheetal Nanda directed the Executive Engineer PHE to prepare a planned document depicting how 100% piped water coverage is ensured in the district.

Vacancies of Doctors, Non Functional PHCs, medicine availability, ambulance services and Ayushman Bharat scheme were all discussed in Health sector and she directed to conduct a survey for left over beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat scheme.

While reviewing FCS & CA department, Sheetal Nanda directed for immediate digitization of ration cards besides Aadhar seeding and implementation of Ujwala scheme was also reviewed.

ADC Kathua, Ghanshyam Singh, ADC Billawar, Joginder Singh Rai, ADC Basholi, T R Thapa, ACR, Devinder Paul, ACD, Sukhpaul Singh, SDMs, DFOs,RTO, GM DIC, Engineers and officers of line departments were present in the meeting.
