Trump’s mediation remark on Kashmir a good omen: Hakeem

Budgam: Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and three time former Minister Hakeem Yaseen on Tuesday hailed US President Donald Trump’s remarks about mediation between India and Pakistan for resolution of lingering on Kashmir issue.
Addressing a one day convention of PDF workers and office beareres ,comprising charar-i- sharief constituency , held at historic Neelnag on Wednesday, Hakeem Yaseen said that the idea of third party mediation on Kashmir put forth by US President Donald Trumph has opened a window of opportunity for restoration peace and tranquility in the region. He said even if Prime Minister of India Narinder Modi has not ever sought mediation on Kashmir, still there was nothing bad in picking up a thread from the idea of third party mediation put forth by American President Donald Trump. “Third party mediation, if sought , to resolve the vexed Kashmir issue will be a new beginning in streamlining tense relationship between India and Pakistan hoping that both the nieghbouring countries
would seize the opportunity to resolve their all outstanding issues through the process of dialogue and reconciliation, ” Hakeem Yaseen maintained. He said new leaderships in both India and Pakistan are enjoying massive public mandate which they ought to utilize positively to resolve all the outstanding issues amicably.
PDF chief said that friendly relations between India and Pakistan were in the larger interests of the people of both countries adding that restoration of peace through dialogue and reconciliation was imperative for development and prosperity of the both the countries. He said dialogue between the two neighbouring nuclear powers was the pre- requisite to end prevailing uncertainty and endless pain and miseries suffered by the people of both the counties especially Jammu and Kashmir.
Referring to the hot boiling issue of Art. 370 and Art. 35-A, Hakeem Yaseen reiterated that these Articles of the Constitution of India, which guarantees special status to the Jammu and Kashmir state, are irrevocable .He cautioned that tinkering with these Articles shall have disastrous consequences on the relationship between the state of Jammu and Kashmir and Indian Union . He said Art. 370 is a bridge between the state and Indian Union adding that if this article was tampered, the accession of state with Indian Union would instantly come to an end. He asked the political parties of the state not to drag the issue of Art 370. for satisting their pretty interests and exploiting the emotions of innocent people of the state.
Responding to the allegations of local people about lack of development in the areas , Hakeem Yaseen lambasted the respective governments for neglecting Neelnag and Yusmarg tourism places adding that no serious measures seems to have been taken to exploit their vast tourism potential . He demanded immediate measures for develppment of both Neelnag and Yusmarg so that these are brought on the national and world tourism map.
