Srinagar: Traffic was on Thursday suspended on Srinagar-Leh national highway, connecting Ladakh region with Kashmir valley, due to landslides at various places triggered by incessant rain.
However, despite rain, traffic was plying normally on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, and historic Mughal road.
“The vehicular movement has been suspended on Srinagar-Leh national highway due to landslides at various places, triggered by incessant rain,” a traffic police official said.
He said the traffic movement will remain suspended for today till complete clearance of landslides.
He said traffic was plying normally on Srinagar-Jammu national highway despite rain. “Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will ply from both sides on the highway. Only-way Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar from 1700 hrs to 2200 hrs,” he added.
He said LMVs will ply from both sides on 84-km-long Mughal road while HMVs will be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar. “HMVs will be allowed from 1200 hrs to 1800 hrs from Behramgalla,” he added.
