SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Wednesday visited the Industrial Estate at Khonmoh to assess the damage from a fire incident that broke out at and gutted a manufacturing unit there.

The DC was informed that a cardboard manufacturing unit was gutted in the fire that broke out from it. He was informed that fire tenders had been pressed into serviced as soon as the fire had broken out.

The unit holders at the industrial estate while calling on the DC on the occasion rued the lack of necessary emergency solutions like a fire station or fire hydrants inside the industrial estate.

The DC sanctioned 50 lac rupees for a dedicated fire tender for the industrial estate on the spot and also assured of taking up requirements of additional infrastructure with the concerned quarters.

Joint Director F&ES was asked to provide technical staff for management of the equipment and machinery to be provided by the district administration.

General Manager DIC was asked about the insurance claim of the unit holder and whether the demands of the unit holders to consider financial support had been forwarded to the administrative department.

JD Planning, JD Fire & Emergency Services, GM DIC, Tehsildar Harwan among other concerned officers accompanied the DC on the occasion.
