Srinagar: Four Amarnath pilgrims have died during the last 24 hours in the ongoing pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.
With these, the death toll has rise to 30 since the commencement of the annual pilgrimage to holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas from July 1.
An official said a yatri identified as Babubhai R Panara, son of Rotilal, resident of Ahmedabad, Gujarat died at Baltal base camp in the wee hours on Wednesday. “The cause of his death was being ascertained,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said three pilgrims died on Tuesday. Majority deaths occurred due to cardiac arrest.
About 30 yatries and others have also suffered injuries due to shooting stones and other causes during the pilgrimage.
So far record number of over 3 lakh pilgrims have already paid obeisance at the Amarnath holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, which is more than the total number of yatries who underwent the pilgrimage in 2018.
