Srinagar/July,23: Srinagar Police Tuesday arrested three Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants, who police said were involved in firing on SPO Romaan at Chana Pora and several grenade throwing incidents and other militancy related incidents in Srinagar & Jammu cities.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police said that those arrested have been identified as Asif Iqbal Dar & Shahid Hassan Dar residents of Soura and Rasheed Lateef Mir resident of Barzulla. They were affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit and were wanted by law for their complicity in a series of militancy related incidents.
Saying that the arrests were made after series of human and technical investigative techniques used by Police, the police statement said “as per police records they had history of involvement in planning and executing several militancy related incidents in J&K along with their militant associates”, adding that “during investigation it was learnt that Junaid Shehrai commander of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen was part of the group which carried out these t attacks and were involved in attack on SPO Romaan at Chanapora on 27/3/2019 in which he sustained injuries besides grenade throwing incidents in Jammu & Srinagar”.
Police also said that it recovered incriminating materials which include ammunition and live rounds from the possession of the said militants and registered a case under relevant sections of law in this regard. “Further investigation in the matter is going on”, the police statement reads further.
