Jammu : District Legal Services Authority, Jammu Tuesday organized a mass plantation drive involving school students here near Suchetgarh border area.
The event also witnessed a touching moment of a meeting of the students of this side with their counterparts living on the other side at the Octori International Border.
The DLSA had organized a picnic for the students to involve them in its ongoing tree plantation drive launched to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi being celebrated from 2nd of October, 2018 to 2nd of October 2020 at National and International level.
The picnic/excursion was organized by the Jammu DLSA for the students of KC International School and Banyan Tree International School.
The students along with faculty members and the locals took part in the plantation programme, planted 600 saplings of Mixed plants medicinal Plants, including Ornamental Plants at the Suchetgarh area assisted by the Field staff of Social and Urban Forestry Department.
The Secretary District Legal Services Authority lauded the efforts of the students and the teaching fraternity for their participation in the Tree limitation Drive and also for the Mass awareness among the rural population about the benefits of the trees to the society/surroundings.
