Srinagar: Over Rs 3 crore was sanctioned as welfare loan and relief in favour of 316 police personnel in Jammu and Kashmir.
A police spokesperson on Monday said that Jammu and Kashmir police is continuously focusing on the welfare of its personnel and their families. “Different schemes have been introduced under the umbrella of Central Police Welfare Fund to help the police personnel who are in need of financial assistance for self treatment or treatment of dependents, self marriage or marriage/ higher education of their children and some religious obligations. These schemes are reviewed from time to time to make them more employee friendly,” he said.
As a part of this endeavour, he said Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Monday sanctioned welfare relief and loan of over Rs 3 crore in favour of 316 police personnel to meet the expenses on their exigencies.
“The assistance has been sanctioned out of contributory Central Police Welfare Fund. Loan of rupees one lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of 97 police personnel to meet the expenses of different natures. The loan is recovered in installments from the personnel,” he said.
Similarly, he said welfare relief has been sanctioned in favour of nineteen personnel at different rates who have been found in distress. “The relief has been provided for their self treatment or the treatment of their dependents. This monetary assistance is not recovered,” he said.
Under this welfare scheme, he said Police Headquatores (PHQ) during the year 2019, has sanctioned Rs 10.58 crore welfare loan in favour of 1043 police personnel to meet the expenses of different nature. “During the first six months of this year welfare relief of Rs 18.3 lakh has been provided to 69 personnel found in distress,” he added.
