CEC Wangyal reviews ‘Ladakh School Olympics’ preparations

Leh: The Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC, Leh Gyal P. Wangyal Monday took a review meeting regarding the preparation of mega multi-sports event under the banner ‘Ladakh School Olympics’ to be held from 17th July to 20th July in Leh. The Deputy Commissioner Leh Avny Lavasa and concerned officers attended the meeting.
DC Leh Avny Lavasa briefing about the four-days mega sports event said that this time about 2700 students, both boys and girls from Government and Private Higher Secondary Schools, High Schools, Middle Schools across Leh district will participate in nine sports discipline including volleyball, Girls Cricket, Archery, Boxing, Table Tennis, Badminton, Judo and Track and field and river rafting competition would be an added attraction of this year’s School Olympic. Volleyball and Girls Cricket will be played at NDS Stadium Leh, while as Archery, Table Tennis, Badminton and Judo will be played at Indoor Stadium Leh. Likewise, Boxing event will be conducted at newly established Boxing Hall near Handicraft Office, said, DC Leh.
CEC Wangyal appreciating the initiative and endeavour of DC Leh Avny Lavasa and other officers involved in making them ‘Ladakh School Olympics’ a grand success since last year enquired in detail about all the arrangements being made for the successful conduct of the LSO and suggested to give appropriate time as per different sports regulations to the students in future sports events so that young talents could be groomed properly in future. He also instructed DC Leh to give participation certificates to all the students.
