Manoj Chopra of Jammu receives prestigious Maya Kamath Award

Jammu:Noted cartoonist and son of the soil ,Manoj Chopra, has been awarded in prestigious Maya Kamath Memorial Awards Competition 2018, organized by Indian Institute of Cartoonists and instituted by family of ‘Mrs Maya Kamath’ as MKM Awards for Excellence in Political Cartooning-2018.The award ceremony was organized at IIC, Bangalore July 2019.
This is the second time Manoj Chopra became achiever of this award under the category special jury appreciation award .Last time in 2013 Manoj Chopra received this award.
The competiton had received 109 entries for the Awards in Excellence in political cartooning.According to the jury members,the cartoons were of diverse and of high quality.Most of them were in response to the current political situation or crisis.The selection was done after much discussion and unanimity.The jury included Late Girish Karnad, noted playwright and actor, Balan Nambiar, well known artist and sculptor, B.G. Gujjarappa,senior cartoonist and Vivek Shanbhag,noted writer and Editor.
It is pertinent to mention that Manoj chopra recently received First Prize at the National Level cartoon contest on Significance Of Book Reading organized by Cartoon Watch in collaboration with India CSR.Also Kerala Media Academy honored Manoj Chopra In cartoon Conclave,Kollam to celebrate the completition of 100 years of Malayalam cartoon.
