New Delhi: A couple of days after the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) on Thursday depicted the state of Jammu and Kashmir as a “separate country”, said a media report.
On one of its pages listing the non-governmental organisations (NGOs), Advanced search for Civil Society Organization section, J-K was displayed under the ‘Country / Geographical area’ section.
Above mentioned page is regarding the listing of NGOs that has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Earlier, the Indian government had proposed The Geospatial Information Regulation Bill 2016, aimed to remove maps from Twitter, Facebook and Google, that showed J-K and Arunachal Pradesh, a state in eastern India, as part of Pakistan and China respectively.
India is yet to respond to this development.
