Jammu:   Continuing with his outreach programme of visiting far-flung areas to effectively get a feedback of the various developmental activities in the State, Advisor to Governor KK Sharma Tuesday visited Bani area of Kathua district and personally met many deputations from the area.

The Advisor also conducted a public grievance redressal camp which was attended by scores of deputations from different areas of the hilly district who projected several demands related to PDD, PHE, health, tourism, R&B.

The deputation led by former legislator Jeevan Lal also called on the Advisor and projected several demands related to their area including undertaking several link roads in Bani constituency under NABARD, State plan, and district plan.

The demands projected by several deputations in Bani included notifying Bani Town as Municipal Committee, exploring the possibility of having two new hydroelectric projects-one each on Sewa and Khad nallah, creation of sub-division at Bani for proper monitoring and execution works, pending salaries of PHE daily wagers for the past 55 months, payment of houses constructed under PMAY/IAY, slow progress of Bani-Basholi road, power issues, demand for transformer repair workshop, PDD sub-division for Bani, establishing viewpoints at identified places for exploring tourist potential of the area, mini-stadium, market intervention for selling agri and horti produce and other issues.

The Advisor directed the officers to work in close coordination with the people of the area so that their specific demands and problems are resolved within given minimum time frame. He said the government has already passed instructions down the line so that the people do not suffer on account for need of basic facilities  and the fast pacing of developmental initiatives would ensure the people living in rural and far-flung areas get facilities at par with people living in major cities and towns of the State.

The Advisor while taking cognizance of the demands of the people directed the officers to erect breast walls to protect the internal roads leading to the district centre from landslides so that the movement of the people is not hampered. He also directed undertaking extensive plantation drive in monsoon to prevent soil erosion.

The Advisor directed the officers of R&B to undertake the necessary measures to ensure that the problem of Bani Bilawar road connectivity issue gets resolved in time so that frequent road blockade issue is resolved.

Earlier, the Advisor held a review meeting at TRC, Bani which was attended by senior officers. During the meeting, the Advisor reviewed the status of work on various ongoing schemes in different sectors like PHE, R&B, Housing, Forest, PDD.

The Advisor directed the officers for ensuring timely completion of various developmental works in the area. He also urged them for working in synergy in a coordinated manner so that various central schemes undertaken are completed at an earliest.
