RTO Kathua imposes fine of Rs. 11.93 Lakhs on Traffic Violators

Kathua: violators of Motor Vehicle rules, the team of Motor Vehicles Department Kathua under the supervision of Dr. Raj K. Thapa, RTO Kathua and comprising of ARTO Kuldeep Singh, Motor Vehicles Inspectors Vikas Srivats, Kamal Kumar, Ravinder Kumar besides staff members Rakesh Kumar, Aman Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Rasal Singh, Shamsher Singh and Lekh Raj imposed a mammoth fine of Rs. 11.93 lakhs on the violators of traffic rules.
Acting specifically against goods carriers particularly the tippers/ dumpers operating around Ravi river and other rivulets/ khadds/ nallas involved in extracting in river beds, the team imposed Rs. 5.15 lakhs, out of the total fine, on these violators u/s 113/194 of MV Act 1988/ Rules.
A fine of Rs. 6.78 lakhs was imposed on other vehicles u/s 66/192A (contravention of Permit conditions), 190-II (without PUCC, pressure horns etc.). A total of 723 vehicles were checked out of which 219 vehicles were challaned/ imposed fine, which included 31 goods carriers. The MVD Kathua has been acting against such violators and had imposed fine of Rs. 2.04lacs a few days earlier also.
The RTO informed that such pro active drives against the traffic violators shall continue in future so that road safety is improved in the district. He also disclosed that 13 driving licenses were suspended while 7 persons were given show cause notice for suspension. He implored upon the civil society to come forward and adopt road safety as a norm and proactively inform the authorities about the chronic violators. He advised that the common citizen must follow traffic rules particularly driving in appropriate lane, wearing seat belt/ helmet, follow traffic signals wherever provided and limit their speed while driving.
The RTO also thanked the district and traffic police, particularly SSP Shridhar Patil and SHO Lakhanpur Rajesh Sharma for their support and cooperation.
