Militant killed in ongoing gunfight in Budgam village, operation underway, mobile internet services suspended

Srinagar,/June 28 : A militant was on Friday morning killed in an ongoing operation after joint team of 50 RR, CRPF and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in Gund Checkpora village of Kanipora Nowgam area in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Law enforcing authorities have suspended mobile internet services in the entire Budgam district.

A police official said one militant body has been recovered from the encounter site amid search operation is underway,but the identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained.

The gunfight erupted after the joint team of government forces intensified searches in the wee hours on Friday during which the hiding militants indiscriminately fired on the forces and hurled a grenade on then. After the forces retaliated the gunfight erupted
