Mainstream leaders shocked over loss of lives in Pir ki gali mishap

Srinagar: The tragic accident in Pir ki gali that left 11 persons dead in this afternoon has left many mainstream politicians shocked. They also expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.
At least 11 persons including nine girls were killed in a road mishap that took place near Pir ki gali in South Kashmir’s Shopian district. National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident near Pir Ki Gali.
The duo in their message prayed for peace to the departed souls and strength to the grief stricken families to bear the inconsolable loss. They also urged the divisional administration of Jammu to give best of medical treatment to the injured.
Meanwhile, Party General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, Aijaz Jan, Javed Rana has also expressed grief over the incident. The leaders have also urged the administration to ascertain the causes of the accident.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G A Mir expressed profound grief over the loss of eleven precious lives and conveyed deepest condolences to bereaved families. In a statement issued on Thursday, Mir expressed profound grief over the loss of eleven precious lives including nine girls, as reported, in a tragic accident near Peer Ki Gali, describing it as highly unfortunate and painful.
“I am pained to hear the loss of precious lives in a tragic accident; I extend deepest condolences to bereaved families. I pray for speedy recovery of injured people,” Mir said. “I am disappointed over the frequent incident of accidents, which have cost many precious lives in past and present also, emphasizing the Authorities dealing with vehicular movement to take effective measures to ensure safety of people while travelling in hilly and plain areas in the State,” he said.
CPI (M) leader and former MLA Kulgam, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami also expressed deep shock and grief over the fatal road accident in Peer Ki Gali area on the historic Mughal road in south Kashmir’s Shopian district in which reportedly 8 persons died and many others were injured.
While expressing solidarity with the bereaved, he demanded ex-gratia relief for the victim families and free of cost treatment to those injured in the accident. Meanwhile, President of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), Dr Shah Faesal expressed his profound grief and sorrow over the tragic accident. In a statement issued on Thursday, Shah Faesal conveyed his sympathies with the bereaved families. He urged the government to provide ex-gratia relief to the bereaved families.
Shah Faesal expressed his dismay over the Government’s failure to check growing incidents of road accidents in various areas of the state especially in Chenab valley and Peerpanchal region.
He also called for a special campaign for improving the road infrastructure and strengthening the traffic regulatory network. Socio Political activist and TV debater Inam-Un-Nabi expressed his utmost grief over Pir Ki Gali mishap.
“I am shocked over this accident of deadly nature as it once again proved the torn nature of our roads. I urge for appropriate compensation in favour of dead and injured. Nothing can bring those who lost their lives back. We need to have a compact policy on improving the condition of our roads in shambles,” he said.
