Swachh Bharat Abhiyan program held at SMC central office Karan Nagar.

Srinagar : In continuing with its three day event for welfare of Safaikaramcharis, Srinagar Municipal Corporation Tuesday organised a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan program here at SMC central office Karan Nagar.

Chairman National Commission for Safai Karamcharis Vala ji bhai Zala ,who was the Chief Guest on the occassion said that Swachh Bharat Abiyan needs to be connected with one and all.

Not only safai karamcharis but people from all walks of life particularly students who are future of this country should join hands and connect with this nationwide cleanliness/Swachta campaign as it is the most important topic which our kids and students and be aware of this mission.

He also said that Kashmir has rightly been called as paradise on earth for its unparrlel beauty ,serenity and fresh air.

But it needs to be retained and restored by putting in every effort to preserve the mother nature as it is one of the best tourist destination and witnesses tourist flow round the year .

Hence Swachta, which not only includes sanitation but preservation of water bodies,lakes, rivers, curbing use of polythene etc needs to be taken on the wider scale and its logical end.

Deputy Mayor Shiekh Imran , Commissioner SMC Khursheed Sanai also spoke on the occassion.

During the program students from various schools and IEC Partners delivered speeech on Swachta.

Joint Commissioner Adm Syed Abul Qasim delivered vote of thanks to the guests.

At the end of the event Zala flagged off the Abiyan and along with students , Karamcharis and SMC officials marched towards Karan Nagar to take out rally and conducted sanitation drive.

Earlier Valaji Bhai Zala along with his team visited Safaikaramcharis Samoon colony at Solina.

The inhabitants of the colony apprised him about various issues and demanded construction of community hall in the area for organising social gatherings within the community. They also requested him to take note of lack of proper drainage system in the colony and also providing of allotment papers of thier houses for proper rehabilitation.

Zala who was acompanied by Deputy Mayor, Commissioner SMC, Chairman safaikaramcharis workers union and other senior officers of the Corporation assured them to take up the meeting with Chief Secretary to disscuss all the issues for thier redressal.
