Sheikh Arshid Ahmad

Civilization is to be taken as advanced state of human society, well developed culture , luxurious life style and modernity in other social norms. The man who is dwelling in this scenario seems to be beast like if he lacks all those ethical values which have ranked him to be the leader of all known creatures of the world. Civilization guides a man to develop an economic value to live a better and comfortable life but the word civilization in true sense shows a different concept as it actually enlightens the man and inculcates in him the real spirit of real human values, helps him in using reasons of positive approach, educating people and to bring the people on the way of togetherness. Socio-economic characteristics of man have changed a lot from primitive times to a more advanced life such as it has changed from nomadic to a well settled life such as to live in houses or big buildings with modern technological facilities. Wisdom for creating economic ways such as engaging in agriculture, mining, small-scale manufacture, handicrafts ,trade etc have developed and added more ease to a man to live a smart and comfortable life in the fast changed technological present day era. The best essence of real civilization is undoubtedly the civilization of Islam. This religion (Islam) develops a man to faces the challenges all forms of life and assures him to be comfortable, confident and positive without dishonesty and disharmony.
Islamic civilization has centralized many factors such as how to engage an individual in different life styles and how to reform the ideas in constructive ways. Most importantly Islamic civilization teaches us peace devoid of any sign of violence and helps in advocating love and moral values. Quran is called the manual of peace cites number of facts in which it is mandatory that without peace life can become hard and bewildered. It also helps to reform the society in a direction of recognition of humanity. Not only this but Islam provokes every individual in the search of truth, justice and urges him to apply his mind according to the situation. This all is found in Islamic civilization by which not only an individual is morally strong but his development in socio-politico-economic ways goes stronger and stronger with every passing day . He can’t be a cheater, liar, dishonest, fraudulent, embezzler, briber etc, so there is no scope for him to feel treated as uncivilized. Hazrat Umar (RA) in an answer to a question responded to his companions that how to find real men. If some of his companions have jewelry, pearls or wealth that too will be used in the way of Islam especially in Jihad but still they will not be considered as real men but Umar (RA) stressed and explained that real men are those who are strong in moral values and social principles ,so these men are rare to find as precious minerals and jewels. Qualified righteous men are the back bone of civilization with the spirit to show progress and focus to reform the things. History speaks for itself; power is not measured by the amount of weapons possessed but by the number of strong men. Reformation of society and successful cultivation can be achieved only by the men who are honest, truthful, justice and morally good representatives. What type of men do we require to develop real civilization based on good characters so that they prove good in conversations, behaviour and their intellect must reflect maturity and manhood. Developing real civilization depends on good terms of manhood including moral values, honesty, truthfulness etc. These can be better opted when they are going to represent their own community. So civilization in the perspective of Islam can help the society to develop social norms such as economy, education, development works, health etc. In this civilization there is no chance of getting angry, applying fraudulent ways, doing injustice, bullying other, burying of truth, dacoity etc.
