Jammu /June, 23 : :Senior National Conference leader and sitting National Conference MLC from Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo Sunday demanded establishing of a women degree college for Kishtwar town and a degree college for Dachan area in the mountainous Kishtwar district.

In a statement issued here on Sunday Kichloo impressed upon Governor Satya Pal Malik to announce a Degree collage for Dachhan and a women Degree collage for Kishtwar town. .

Kichloo said hundreds of girls passing class 12 examinations every year are forced to travel to Jammu and take shelter in the rented accommodations in the winter capital for pursuing Higher studies in the women colleges of Jammu city and adjoining areas. Saying that financial constraints become a reason for the girls of the families of low income classes to shun the path of higher studies , Kichloo said “shameful it for both the law makers and the planners of the state that even in the 21st century the girls of mountainous Kishtwar don’t have access to college education and it is to be noted regret that girls also face the family issues in moving out to Jammu for pursuing higher studies in the colleges of Jammu city”.

He said establishing a Degree College in Dachhan and Women degree collage Kishtwar would be a boost to the college education in the district which otherwise continues to remain educationally backward.

In a written letter to Governor Satya Pal Malik, Kichloo appealed him to look into the demand and sanction the degree colleges in these areas which will come as a great blessing to these district.

The former ex Home Minister said that a large number of students drop out after passing their class 12 examination because they are not able to travel to long distances for higher education dye to financial and other family reasons.
